A szerzevők azonban már azt megelőzően nyilvánosságra hozták a gamescom 2023 legjobbjainak járó díjakért versenyző játékok listáját.
A nomináltak közül a FromSoftware ma megjelent mechás akciójátéka, az Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon tűnt a legesélyesebbnek összesen 7 jelöléssel, de végül a zsűri minden kategóriában talált nála érdemesebb alkotást. A gamescom 2023 nyertese így Nintendo lett öt díjjal, de az Xbox is vigasztalódhatott eggyel, míg a Heart of Gaming trófeával idén a német játékiparon belül az egyenlőségért és a szexizmus ellen küzdő GAME:IN kezdeményezést ismerték el.
